Ruth Selig is an Architect and Printmaker. She recently returned to university to study Fine Art, majoring in printmaking. She graduated with a First-Class Honours degree and received the prize for Best Printmaking Practice.
Ruth’s technical background and interests in architecture & modernism influence her printmaking. She experiments with different media, mixing up, layering and constructing abstract images – uniting choice and chance.
Just before its long closure for refurbishment, Ruth made a series of photolithographic prints based on Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End. These prints were selected for various exhibitions including for the V&A Museum “Inspired By” competition, showcasing new works inspired by their collections. They reference and draw parallels with the V&A collection of William Morris and his involvement with architecture and craft.
You can see some of these prints in the Town Hall function room/cafe, and others will be displayed during Crouchend Open Studios Art Trail on 9th & 10th May.
